What is a flower essence?
Flower essences are subtle healing energies prepared in liquid form from the blossoms of flowers that are put in the sun in a bowl of pure water. This process absorbs the energy, the life force, of the flower infusing it into the water. This creates the 'mother' essence and is preserved, bottled and used to create individual stock and dosage bottles.
Flower essences work to support us on multiple levels working with each unique individual. They offer us a supportive place to do our emotional work and are a great partner in our healing journey, never interfering with another healing modality and are safe for children and pets. They bring balance into our lives working with the mind-body connection.
So, how do they work?
All plants (all life) carry a vibrational frequency. And each plant, each flower has its own personality or ‘signature’ vibration. When we are introduced to a flower’s unique vibration, our energy field learns to balance itself in alignment with the essence. For example, lavender flower essence calms the over-active, over-sensitive, over-stimulated, over-extended soul by introducing its subtle vibrational energy.
How do I choose a flower essence?
You may choose an essence because of its properties. These may immediately line up with what you need. Or you may be attracted to a certain flower for no apparent reason. Or you may be undecided… or need more than one! Sometimes, in the beginning, a pendulum works well.
How do I take a Flower Essence?
Hit your dosage bottle on the bottom (sucuss) with the palm of your hand a few times. This will get its energy moving. Then open the bottle and empty the dropper liquid back into the bottle. (This liquid did not get shaken into the rest of the bottle.)
Just before taking your essence, take a few deep breaths to ground yourself and be present. Feel your body. Then, take your essence as directed by putting the drops under your tongue, in a glass of pure water or on your pulse points. Sit with any sensations for a moment, listening inside your Self.
What if I contaminate the dropper?
If you contaminate the dropper, run it under clear water to cleanse it before returning it to the bottle.
Can I overdose on an essence?
Flower essences are vibrational in nature as are homeopathic remedies. Therefore, they are non-toxic and you cannot overdose on them. However, they do contain alcohol so drinking a very large amount could cause intoxication.
What if I am sensitive to alcohol?
For those sensitive to alcohol, ask your practitioner to add your flower essences to a dosage bottle using apple cider vinegar or vegetable glycerin as a preservative instead of brandy.
Or instead, you may… put a few drops in a large glass of pure water, add a few drops to your bath, put some drops in a spray bottle using distilled water or add some drops to your diffuser.
Drops can also be added to massage oils or creams or placed directly on meridians, acupressure or reflexology points.
How do I store my essences?
Store essences out of direct sunlight, in a moderate or cool environment and away from electronics. Do not refrigerate them.
